What's Happening in 2013?
Budget cuts continue to hit us hard, but thanks to the Alaska State Legislature and especially the Interior Delegation, we are alive for another year.
Winter is still hanging around, but we are busy in the greenhouse getting lists ready for seeds and plants to grow for our plant sale. Volunteers are anxious to dig in the dirt once again. Our classes still have not returned, but Pat Holloway has received a sabbatical notice so that next fall she can totally revamp the classes to online and more user-friendly offerings.
We will be working on some peony and wild blueberry tissue culture experiments this spring and getting ready for another great season.
Only two new gardens will be planted this spring. Virginia Damron and Pat Holloway will design one of the flower beds thanks to a geneous donation from the Willow Garden Club and Les Brake. We will be installing a rose mulching experiment in the perennial gardens in honor of Mike Salzman.
